The food speculation must end or at least be better regulated otherwise Millions of people around the globe are suffering from rich investors money-games
For nearly two years, the NGO World Development Movement (WDM) is campaigning for regulation to stop food speculation from contributing to food price spikes which cause hunger and poverty for millions of people.
They have exposed bankers, lobbied decision-makers and educated people – even made a comedy series. But the next few weeks are crucial to the campaign.
At the beginning of July, 10 UK MEPs will have the chance to vote on proposed rules to tackle food speculation. You can make sure they vote the right way. Please sign our petition to them now. http://www.wdm.org.uk/action/urgent-petition-food-speculation. A copy of the petition will be hand delivered to each of the MEPs by our local group members in their constituencies.
This vote is a crucial one, as it determines the European parliament’s negotiating position with the European Commission and Council of Ministers. The parliament is our best chance to pushing for strong rules on food speculation – so please add your name to the petition now. http://www.wdm.org.uk/action/urgent-petition-food-speculation
